The Writers’ Union
of Canada held an Awakening in Ottawa on April
16 to “awaken” the Harper government
to the cultural and economic contribution the arts make to
Canada.
Writers, filmmakers, playwrights, visual artists, musicians,
dancers, and actors held a press conference in the Charles
Lynch pressroom on Parliament Hill on Monday, April 16, 2007.
Later, Canadian Artists from all disciplines gathered in front
of Centre Block for the Awakening event.
