The recent cuts to funding for the promotion of Canadian books abroad show the appalling insularity and narrow-mindedness of the Harper government. Like our other resources, our books deserve to be known, celebrated, and sold around the world, and--as with our other resources--it always pays to advertise. I fear this is just the beginning of a great leap backward for the Conservatives, while the rest of us will simply be pushed aside.
