CANADIAN
LIBRARY ASSOCIATION
Since 2005 The Writers Union
of Canada’s Libraries and Curriculum Committee has provided
public libraries across Canada with contemporary listings
of new Canadian titles as produced by Union members to assist
the libraries in their acquisition processes. All information
necessary to direct order titles is provided, including: ISBN,
publication date, list price, publisher/distributor contact
information; even a brief author-generated description of
the work.
As with any listing service, ours is not
all inclusive and does not necessarily represent all titles
produced by all members. This is not due to any arbitrary
process of exclusion, but because participation in our listing
service is voluntary. The Libraries and Curriculum Committee
is delighted to note that as time goes on and the program
becomes better known amongst our members, more and more are
choosing to take part.
You do not have to be a librarian to benefit
from these lists. Whether a teacher or a student, a member
of a book club or simply a solitary lover of books, here you
will find information on contemporary titles written by some
of Canada’s finest authors. Take a look. Cross match
authors with their member’s page on the website. Get
to know who we are and what we do. And remember, if you wish
to have any of our authors conduct readings or make presentations
to your group or organization, all are eligible for funding
through the National Public Readings Program. Just click on
“Readings” on our website to see if your group
qualifies and how to access this program.
Wishing you a warm welcome to our world
of words, we remain,
The Writers Union of Canada
Libraries & Curriculum Committee
