BIO
Biography

Anne Giardini, O.C., O.B.C., K.C. Anne's first novel, The Sad Truth About Happiness, was published by HarperCollins/Fourth Estate in Canada, the UK, the US and Australia in spring 2005. It was short-listed for the Amazon/Books in Canada First Novel Award in 2006 and for an Audie audio books award. Anne's second novel, Advice for Italian Boys, was published by HarperCollins in 2009. Together with her son Nicholas Giardini, she edited Startle and Illuminate in 2016 (PenguinRandomHouse), a collection of her mother's advice on writing. Anne has been SFU's 11th Chancellor, the past Chair of the Vancouver International Writers and Readers Festival and the past Vice Chair of the Board of Governors of Simon Fraser University. She was made an Officer of the Order of Canada in 2016 and an Officer of the Order of British Columbia in 2018. Currently, she is board member of BC Achievement Foundation, and serves on the board of Pembina Institute among other organizations.
