Day's Lee
BIO
Biography

Day’s Lee wrote the script for her first documentary about her family’s Chinese-Canadian restaurant entitled Meet and Eat at Lee’s Garden for which she was also producer and director. It premiered on the CBC program Absolutely Canadian on November 14, 2020. The documentary is nominated for a 2022 Canadian Screen Award for Best History Documentary Program or Series. As an author, Lee has published a children’s picture book The Fragrant Garden, a short story collection, The Red Pagoda and Other Stories and a young adult novel Guitar Hero, all of which are stories about the Chinese-Canadian community. As a freelance writer, she has written articles about Montreal’s Chinese community for national magazines.

Growing up in Montreal, she realized that her parents’ generation didn’t have a voice. Language and cultural barriers prevented them from telling their stories of life, loss and disappointment. Lee’s passion is to share their stories and a history that is slowly fading from the public’s memory.
