Kari-Lynn Winters and Stephen Taylor's picture book Gift Days (Fitzhenry and Whiterside, 2012) was recently nominated for the Rainforest of Reading Award. Celebrations of reading will be held in October in Grenada and St. Lucia. This award is supported by the OLA and the One Schoolhouse Foundation.
Yvonne Blackwood was born in Manchester, Jamaica. She immigrated to Canada in 1976. She studied at the University of Technology, Jamaica and Ryerson University. She was a career banker for 35 years. She is an author, columnist, speaker and world traveller. She has published 3 books, her newest offering is "Into Africa: The Return". A novel is in the works. Yvonne previously wrote a bi-weekly column in the Toronto Star, a weekly column in, Pride Newsmagazine and a monthly column in The African Connection. She writes a quarterly article for InTouch, RBC's pensioners magazine.
