Welwyn Wilton Katz lives in Toronto, after having moved all the way east from London, Ontario, where she was born. She has written ten novels that have been published in more than a dozen languages around the world. As well, she's had several short stories published, three of which are the short-shorts some people call postcard stories. She's won several awards, but she now realizes that her greatest satisfaction in writing will come from simply finishing her current work-in-progress. This has been a challenge since a car accident in early 2003 prevented her from writing for three years while she was in the middle of a new book. Brains are wonderful organs, however, and this one has figured out new neural pathways to a novelist's world. Welwyn has one highly educated, delightful daughter who is also a writer. She enjoys her cat Chloe who uses a megaphone to attract attention and fancies herself Nash's inspiration for "The Owl and the Pussycat". Welwyn practices Siddha yoga and is learning to improvise on the flute, after being chained to a music stand for far too long. She sails, traipses over bogs, trips over astonishing story ideas, tries to keep her office tidy, and believes there is more to life than meets the eye.
