Brian Brett was born in Vancouver in 1950 and is the author of several books of fiction and poetry and is also a journalist. He lives on a farm on Salt Spring Island, where he cultivates his garden, creates ceramic forms, and writes. He has given readings, lectures, and workshops across Canada since the early 1970s. He inaugurated the B.C. Poetry-in-the-Schools program almost 20 years ago. Currently, he is participating in the Writers in Electronic Residence program for the Writers' Development Trust.
