Sylvia Gunnery

Sylvia Gunnery writes books for young adults and children, as well as professional books for teachers. She first took herself seriously as a writer in the summer of 1976 when she attended the Banff Writing Studio under the instruction of W.O. Mitchell. A recipient of a Prime Minister's Award for Teaching Excellence, much of the inspiration for her writing has come from her junior and senior high students. She has presented at conferences, libraries, and schools across Canada and works on curriculum development and assessment initiatives with the Nova Scotia Department of Education. Currently, Sylvia serves as Atlantic Representative on TWUC’s National Council and lives at Crescent Beach on the South Shore of Nova Scotia.
