Greg Hollingshead was born in Toronto and grew up in Woodbridge, Ontario. He received a B.A. and M.A. in English from the University of Toronto, and a Ph.D. from the University of London for a thesis on Bishop Berkeley. He lived in England for five years. Currently Greg is professor emeritus at the University of Alberta and director of writing programs at the Banff Centre. He is married to Rosa Spricer, a psychologist in private practice. He and Rosa have one son, David.
