Barbara Williams

Barbara Williams has a B.A. from Sheffield University, England, and an M.A. in English from the University of Guelph. She taught high school (English and French) in England and then in Canada following emigration in the late 1960s. Her publications in adult and children’s literature (mostly nonfiction and poetry) have appeared in Canada, USA, Australia and the Netherlands. She was columnist on Australian poetry for Poetry Canada Review from 1984-88. Her interviews with Australian poets have been published in journals in Australia, Canada and the United States. A selection of the interviews was published in book form in 1998. She has written and lectured extensively on Anne Langton (1804-93), a gentlewoman, artist, journal writer and pioneer settler, who emigrated from England to Upper Canada (Ontario) in 1837.

Presentation Description:
I give presentations on Anne Langton's life and work, illustrated with slides of her drawings, paintings and miniatures. Presentation is usually followed by Q & A session. I present to adult and school audiences.
