Jean Blackie

Born in Halifax, Nova Scotia, Jean lives in Gander, Newfoundland with her physician husband, Peter where they raised their four children. Trained as a nurse in Montreal, she has worked at home since 1969. Jean began writing for middle-grade readers twelve years ago. She is currently working on a sequel to He Sweeps, He Scores!
Echo Summer, a camp adventure, was published by Trilium Press in 1990. When no marketing was done, and delays with the second dragged on, One Day At a Time, a young boy discovering his Newfoundland heritage, was published by the author in co-operation with Robinson-Blackmore Books in 1997, followed by He Sweeps, He Scores! in 1998, where Shawn turns defeat into success by switching from hockey to curling. Unpublished work includes: Point Pleasant Secret: Catherine has problems accepting an integrated family while solving an adventure set in Halifax, Nova Scotia; Spirit of Revenge: attempting to clear his grandfather's name, Alex helps his friend deal with death and clears up an old mystery, set in Louisbourg, Nova Scotia; and Night of Terror: set in Niagara-on-the-Lake, Ontario, takes April ona search for lost treasure as she tries to unravel a set of clues bequeathed her by her grandmother.
