| Janet Read was born in Toronto and studied Philosophy, English and Medieval Studies at the University of Toronto. She studied education at the Institute of Child Study at the U. of T. then began art studies at OCA and York University. She works as an exhibiting artist, writes poetry, and teaches music. A new children's fiction is in the works set in Port Hope where she lives. Travelling is a passion, most recently to Iceland and the Faroe Islands where she listened for poems. Janet continues to paint from a new location in Markham and exhibits annually in Toronto at On Sight/ Painted City Gallery on Spadina.
