Biography

Loretta developed a real love for picture books while working as a storyteller, bookseller and reviewer at Mabel’s Fables Bookstore in Toronto. Very thrilled to be putting books into the hands of tomorrow’s big readers, she felt it was time to write a few stories of her own.

Loretta is the author of A Stopwatch from Grampa/KCP,2020, And J.J. Slept/KCP,2022. Three more picture books coming in 2023 and ‘24 from Owlkids Books.

A Stopwatch from Grampa was given a kirkus star review and one of their best books of 2020 and also a Crystal Kite finalist. And J.J. Slept, was one of Canadian Children's Book Centre's best books of 2022.

Loretta (Jafelice) is also a commercial voice actor and has worked on CBC radio dramas and animated cartoons such as Madeline, Babar, Maxie’s World, Julius JR. and the ongoing Max and Ruby as Bunny Scout Valerie.
