After raising two children and heading out on my own, I entered university as a mature student. I have studied, taught, written, and published in many genres and now have three degrees and over a decade of teaching experience. In addition to three books, my publications include almost two hundred individual poems in literary journals, plus scholarly articles, encyclopedia entries, and book and movie reviews.

I have served as a mentor in the Sheldon Oberman Emerging Writers Program, and before my return to Alberta, I taught creative writing at the University of Winnipeg and served on the Board of Directors for CV2: The Canadian Journal of Poetry and Critical Writing. As well as the Writers' Union, I am a member of The Professional Writers Association of Canada, The Writers' Union of Canada, and The Writers Guild of Alberta. Now, in addition to Writing Life, I teach at the University of Calgary, guide credit and non-credit travel studies to Ireland, and teach online classes in lifewriting.
