Ashley Obscura

Ashley Obscura (b. 1988) is a Latina-Norwegian poet, writer, editor and publisher. Born and raised in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan (the land of the living skies), Ashley now calls Montreal, Quebec home.

She is the screenwriter of Museum of Symmetry (National Film Board of Canada, 2018) which won the Canadian Screen Award for Best Virtual Reality Game (2019) for its excellence in digital storytelling. It has also won awards for Interactive Production - Fiction (NUMIX), Best Out of Body Experience (North Bend Film Festival) and the People’s Choice Award for Interactive Experience (FIVARS).

The author of the poetry collections Cosmica Cosita (forthcoming, Caleta Olivia, 2019), Ambient Technology (Metatron, 2018) and I Am Here (Metatron, 2014), Ashley’s poetry has been anthologized within Canada and internationally, and been translated and published in multiple languages. She has been named one of the best living poets in Quebec, as well as one of Canada’s 30 Under 30 poets (In/Words Press).

She is the founder and managing editor of Metatron Press (2014). Metatron is known for their sassy and stylish books by emerging writers, cutting-edge approach to digital publishing, annual Metatron Prize for Rising Authors, and unique, dynamic events.

Obscura is currently working as scriptwriter for Songs of the Lost, a video game for the 2019 Manchester International Festival. Cosmica Cosita, her debut book of Spanish poetry, will be published by Caleta Olivia in the Fall of 2019.
