Budge Wilson

Born in Nova Scotia, Budge Wilson attended Halifax schools and Dalhousie University, earning a B.A. in Psychology and Philosophy, a Diploma in Education, and a Teaching Certificate in Physical Education. After two years of graduate work in English at the University of Toronto, she worked as a teacher, commercial artist, photographer, and as a fitness instructor for over 20 years. A very late bloomer, she started writing fiction in her fifties, her first book published when she was 56. Since then, she has published 27 books, of which 20 are for children, ranging from picture books and novels for middle school years to YA novels. Her books for adults are short story collections. Her work has appeared in 13 countries, and in 10 languages. She travels widely in Canada and elsewhere, giving talks and workshops in schools, universities, libraries, conferences and festivals. She is currently working on a children's novel, a collection of poems, and a book of "crossover" short stories. Budge is married, with 2 daughters and 2 grandsons.
