Des Kennedy

Des Kennedy was born in Liverpool, England, in 1945, and emigrated with his family to Toronto in 1955. He graduated with a B.A. in Philosophy from the Passionist Monastic Seminary in New York in 1968. Between 1968 and '71 he taught high school English and worked as a social worker in Vancouver, B.C. He married Sandy Lesyk in 1970 and they moved to Denman Island, B.C. in 1972. They have lived there for the past 42 years in their owner-built home, practicing a conserver lifestyle and being active in community, environmental and social justice issues.
