James Trettwer lives in Regina where he writes fiction and sometimes dabbles in poetry.  A University of Regina graduate in English Literature, Trettwer's first book Thorn-Field won the Saskatchewan Book Awards - City of Regina Book Award.

A reviewer of Thorn-Field says, "Trettwer instantly challenges the reader to empathize, understand and relate to the characters."
