Judy Haiven was born in Toronto in 1951 and lived there for her first 30 years. Then she started to wander, first to Edmonton where she worked as a writer and filmmaker, straddling the boom and bust times of the early 1980s. Then she migrated to Leamington Spa, England. For about a year she commuted to London by train to her job as a political organizer for Britain's fourth largest union. Later she worked as a documentary filmmaker in Birmingham. She completed an MA in industrial relations at the University of Warwick. Returning to Canada - to Saskatoon in 1989 - she has taught as a sessional at the University of Saskatchewan. As a writer and activist, she's hooked on investigative journalism.
