Leanne Lieberman

Leanne Lieberman is the author of five books for young adults. Her most recent book is The Most Dangerous Thing (Orca Books 2017) about a teenage girl struggling with anxiety and depression. Leanne is also the author of Off Pointe, Lauren Yanofsky Hates the Holocaust, The Book of Trees and Gravity.

Leanne’s first novel, Gravity, was the winner of Orca Books’ 2008 “So You Think You Can Write?” contest. It was also a Sydney Taylor Notable book and made the 2009 Rainbow List. The Globe and Mail described Leanne’s writing “like origami, in which meanings gently unfold. Leanne is also the author of The Book of Trees, which was lauded for its fresh approach to the difficult topic of Israeli/Palestinian relations.

Leanne’s adult fiction has been published in many Canadian journals such as Descant, The New Quarterly, Fireweed, The Antigonish Review and Grain. She is currently working on a novel called Unsettled.

Leanne holds degrees from McGill University, Queen’s University and an MA from the University of Windsor. She grew up in Vancouver, British Columbia and currently lives in Kingston, Ontario, with her husband and two sons.
