Lois Lorimer
BIO
Biography

Lois Lorimer is a writer, actor and educator living in Brockville, Ontario. As an actor, Lois worked in television, film and radio drama. Her stage work includes 5 seasons with The Shaw Festival company and performances at theatres in Toronto, Saskatoon, London, and Montreal. Lois taught English, Drama and worked as teacher-librarian for the Toronto District School Board at R.H. King Academy in Toronto. 

Lois is a featured reader at Poetry Brockville Reading Series on April 27th 2024 at The Arts Hub, Brockville. 

In 2023, one of her poems was published in an American anthology of poetry: The Wonder of Small Things: Poems of Peace and Renewal by Storey Publishing. In 2010, her poetry chapbook Between the Houses, was published by Maclean Dubois in Edinburgh. Her poetry collection,  Stripmall Subversive, was published by Variety Crossing Press in 2012.

Her poems have appeared in leading literary journals including: Arc, Literary Review of Canada, and Hart House Review, as well as anthologies including:  Animal Companions, Animal Doctors, Animal People (Ontario Veterinary College, Guelph U: 2018.)Another Dysfunctional Cancer Anthology (Mansfield Press: 2018), The Bright Well (Leaf Press: 2012) Connectivism (Variety Crossing Press).

Lois was one of the judges for the League of Canadian Poets Jessamy Stursberg Poetry Prize for Canadian Youth. Lois has written poems for the public in Toronto's Union Station as part of the League of Canadian Poets' Poetry in Union initiative. Lois has been a featured reader at various reading series in: Ottawa, Cobourg, Hamilton, Toronto and Brockville. Lois read at the Art Bar Poetry Series in February of 2023. She has featured as a reader as part of River City Reading Series on September 24, 2022 in Brockville, Ontario.
