A published academic in psychology and a university instructor, Patricia's pioneering work in Morita Therapy, a Japanese Psychotherapy, has been published internationally. Later she turned her focus to fiction-writing. Drawing from the rich cultural mix of the East Coast, her distinct characters embody a unique dash of bilingual New Brunswick. The Mighty Orion Trilogy is set in that province on its northernmost boundry which is directly across the Bay of Chaleur from Quebec's Gaspe Peninsula.

The family saga has its roots in Patricia's many years of work as a psychotherapist in private practice, in downtown Vancouver. Weaving the threads of family dynamics, in their full array, was purposeful and aimed at demonstrating how reconciliation can be nurtured in relationships, including those inter-generational. Part of her research for this trilogy was to train as a tall ship sailor whilst crossing the North Atlantic from France to Nova Scotia. Visiting ports-of-call were intregal to lending a sense of realism to a mariner's life for protagonist and patriarch, Percy Kilkenny.

She has also published a number of short stories in anthologies and magazines, some being vignettes; encounters in her travels. Claudia, an e-novel (Smashwords.com), emerged from a longer stay in Argentina and is a woman's coming-of-age story set in 1810, the country's independence year. 'Bruno's Bruin' was her contribution to Chicken Soup for the Soul, O Canada, the Wonders of Winter 2013
