Richard King

Richard King was born in Montreal during the winter of 1945. Growing up Jewish in Montreal has been chronicled so often and so thoroughly that is not necessary to add another word or two to that body of work. Richard attended high school in Montreal but took very little pleasure in the experience. He left high school a year before graduating and went to work. After five years in the work force he enrolled at Sir George Williams University (now Concordia University) where he completed a B.A. in European history. He attended graduate school at the University of Rochester following which he lived in Paris for 18 months.

Richard worked for Classic Bookshops and was the co-founder of Paragraph Bookstore. He served on the board of directors of the Canadian Booksellers Association including one term as its president.

Richard is the president of a company that owned a small shopping centre in a West Island suburb of Montreal. In addition to being a writer Richard is the Associate Director of Finance for the not-for-profit Academics Without Borders.
