Ruth Miller


Ruth Miller was born and grew up in Toronto. After completing her B.A at the University of Toronto, she spent a year in Paris at the Sorbonne. For a while she taught High School French, and then Music and Movement for young children. She returned to OISE to complete her M.ED. She worked for Toronto Public Health for 20 years as a Sexual Health Educator.

Ruth is the author of three picture books for children all in rhyming text. She is currently working on another picture book. Her articles have appeared in the Toronto Star and the Globe and Mail as well as in Sexual Health Publications. She has three grown sons, two daughters-in-law and three grandchildren. She and her husband live in Toronto.

Presentation Description

This writer’s picture books are in rhyming text. Children are invited to participate in the reading by providing the last word to the rhyme. Ruth discusses the inspiration for each book and engages the children in commenting on the illustrations. A former high school teacher also trained in ECE, Ruth can incorporate musical instruments and singing in her presentation, particularly for the kindergarten and grade-one crowd.
