Politically, the Union has proved itself very strong in influencing public policy on matters ranging from important international issues to bread-and-butter matters such as Access Copyright and Public Lending Right. I consider the cost of annual dues very good value for money.

Shari Graydon
Shari Graydon is the founder and Catalyst of Informed Opinions, and an award-winning author, educator and women’s advocate with more than 20 years of experience on both sides of the microphone. Since 2010, she has helped amplify the voices of hundreds of women across Canada, supporting them in sharing their insights and analysis with a broader public. A former newspaper columnist, TV producer and commentator for CBC radio and TV, she also served as press secretary to a provincial premier, and as president of MediaWatch. Shari is a proud alumna of the University of British Columbia (Theatre) and Simon Fraser University (Communications), where she also taught. She has published two best-selling media literacy books for youth, received the Governor General’s Award in Commemoration of the Persons’ Case in 2007, and was named one of Canada’s Top 100 Most Powerful Women by WXN the previous year. Royalties from her edited collection, I Feel Great About My Hands – And Other Unexpected Joys of Aging, benefit Informed Opinions. (Reviews, contributors, excerpts profiled here.)
