Steven Ross Smith

Steven Ross Smith has published thirteen books of poetry, fiction and non-fiction, including fluttertongue book 3: disarray, which won the 2005 Book of the Year Award at the Saskatchewan Book Awards. His most recent book is Emanations Fluttertongue 6 (BookThug 2015). He has performed his work and/or published in England, Holland, Russia, Portugal, USA, and Canada. He has given over two hundred public readings.
The chapbook Pliny’s Knickers, a collaboration between Smith, poet Hilary Clark, and artist Betsy Rosenwald, won the 2006 bpNichol Chapbook Award.
Smith lives and writes in Banff, where he was the Director of Literary Arts at the Banff Centre from 2008 to 2014. He was also the founding Director of Sage Hill Writing Experience and led that program from 1990 to 2007. Currently he writes full time, honing his poetry and fiction, and also writing for magazines and websites on the literary and visual arts. That work can be found in GalleriesWest magazine and in WestWord. When not in Banff he is often writing on Galiano Island, BC.
