Bev Brenna’s new middle-grade novel Fox Magic, with spot illustrations by Miriam Körner, appears in September from Red Deer Press/Fitzhenry & Whiteside. This story in magic realism explores life from the perspective of twelve-year-old Chance Devlin. Two of her friends have committed suicide and as she struggles with her loss and guilt, she makes a connection to a mysterious red fox named Janet Johnson. This new bond helps her come to terms with the past and move forward. A book that will open honest discussion with family and friends, at home or in the classroom, supporting healthy choices and mental health.
