Up until now, Sharon Berg has been known as a poet, but she is releasing two full books this month: one is short fiction, the other is history. The first, Naming the Shadows, is a collection of short fiction that includes two novelettes. It is published by the renown Ontario press, Porcupine's Quill, and highlighted for Fall 2019 Fiction by Quill & Quire while 49th Shelf listed it among its 'most anticipated' reads for Fall 2019. The second, The Name Unspoken: Wandering Spirit Survival School, is a multi-threaded, cross-genre history of the first 'Native Way' school founded in Canada in 1976. WSSS was adopted as an alternative school by the Toronto Board of Ed in 1977 and moved to its own building in 2017 so it could offer high school classes. This book is published by Big Pond Rumours Press in Sarnia, Ontario.
