Canadian authors, this is sunrise looking out of my living room window! If you have both doses of your Covid-19 vaccine, Sharon Berg invites you to come explore in your own backyard. We’ve just reached the most beautiful season in Newfoundland and the vistas here are spectacular. While Oceanview Writers Retreat is still under construction on the lower floor, the private room with a wonderful view of Clode Sound on the main floor is operational. This room is available as of July 18th, 2021. You can book your stay for $100 a day with a minimum of a one week stay. You can choose to drive here (taking the night ferry from North Sydney to Port aux Basques via the Trans Canada to the Charlottetown turnoff in Terra Nova Park; or you can fly in to the Gander Airport and I will pick you up and return you there for a small fee.
Your private room includes a Queen-sized bed, an antique writing desk and computer chair, with plenty of closet space. Your stay at Oceanview provides you with gorgeous water views from the living room, your bedroom, or the back deck. You can walk to the wharf and in addition to views of a variety of docks and boat houses at the center of the village, there is also a small waterfall close by. This Retreat is situated in the middle of Terra Nova National Park which has numerous hiking trails of varying difficulty. The Park’s Information Centre also has a sea life petting aquarium! Plus, we can take two optional excursions for sight-seeing trips each week, one for a half day, and one for the full day.
The idea behind the Retreat is to offer you a balance of inspiration for your writing and time free from all distractions to work on your writing goals. All three of your meals are cooked for you with attention to any dietary needs. We will even take a picnic basket when/if we do our road trips. BYOB and bring your computer to write up your next project. Whale watching season is upon us. Clode Sound is visited by Minke and Humpback Whales, Dolphins, Orcas – all of which follow the Caplin into Clode Sound. Plus, there are resident moose, otters, loons, seagulls, eagles, and a variety of songbirds which you may see. Phone 709-667-2004 to book your visit today!
