NPR - Fall/Winter 2022-23 Application

With the assistance of the Canada Council for the Arts, The Writers’ Union of Canada funds local in-person or virtual public author readings across Canada. Please note that in-person readings must follow all local public health restrictions. The Union does not in any way encourage public gatherings outside of personal comfort and public guidelines. TWUC recognizes the COVID-19 Pandemic is still unresolved.

Please ensure you have read the National Public Readings Program guidelines before applying. 

Application 

Funding is currently available for readings taking place September 1, 2022 – March 31, 2023. The last day to apply is August 17, 2022. All applicants will be notified of application results within 3 weeks of the deadline.

The Union strongly encourages hosts to hold readings in wheelchair-accessible venues and to consider additional presenter or audience access needs (e.g., ASL interpretation, large print materials). We also encourage you to make accessibility information available to your audience (e.g., on your website and promotional materials).

As part of the Union’s Equity Implementation Plan, applications for readings featuring authors who are Black, Indigenous, racialized, LGBTQI2S, or living with a disability will be prioritized.
