BIO
Biography

Lauren Best lives where the Pottawatomi River meets Georgian Bay, on the territory of the Saugeen Ojibway Nation (now known as Owen Sound, Ontario). She is an interdisciplinary creative with a multifaceted professional practice as a performance/intermedia poet, musician/composer, and voice coach/facilitator.

Her 2023 poetry collection, Just Leaves, builds upon her reflective community projects as Owen Sound's Poet Laureate (2017-2019). She is currently creating a collection of audio poetry with sound art based on historic ancestral texts, and intermedia poetry in site-specific installation.

She is the co-creator of the Infinite Improvisation Podcast with Seattlebased saxophonist Steve Treseler. In her newest show/publication, Lauren's Best, she curiously considers art and life to reveal what has unlocked success in her own creative journey of healing and growth. Illuminating the creative process, she invites you to join her in conversations with a fascinating mix of creators, connecting over surprising common ground.
