David Roomy
BIO
Biography

David Roomy is author of several books on Jungian psychotherapy, and so far, one collection of his poetry; he is a life-time practitioner in these fields. His master’s degree from Union Theological Seminary, NYC, was in the Program of Psychiatry and Religion.  Jungian psychology and religion/spirituality, on an intercultural and interfaith basis, have always been his areas of study, teaching, and practice. Early in his stay in New York, he began working with M. Esther Harding, one of the first Jungian Analyst's in North America. Also during the Sixties, he was the Associate Director of a cross cultural encounter program with William H. Kennedy--"Bill", who in his youth, was a ward of   C. G. Jung.  The program of cross understanding employed Jungian insights for improving communication in international conflict during the height of the Cold War.  The program involved exchange of European graduate students in summer jobs in N. A. corporations, and included Finland, West Germany, Austria, Finland and Greece. As a youth David had been President of the International Christian Youth Fellowship Commission, writing a weekly article on the back of VISION MAGAZINE, and travelling and speaking for a year, in forty cities in the United States and Canada. During the Seventies David was a faculty member of Friends World College (The Religious Society of Friends, or Quakers), and 1971-72 Acting Director of the N.A. Center, and later Co-Director of the European Center in Norwich, Norfolk, England.  David, through his maternal line, is the descendent of at least nine generations of Friends--something he didn't know when he served the college 50 years earlier and only found through his iextensive study of genealogy & DNA.
