Born in Dublin, Ireland, in 1969, Emma Donoghue spent eight years in Cambridge, England doing a PhD. in English. She moved to Canada in 1998 and is based in London, Ontario. She writes full-time, concentrating on fiction, plays, and lesbian literary history.
