Janet Barkhouse

Janet Barkhouse is a poet and writer. Her publications for children include a chapter book of creative non-fiction, Sable Island – Imagine!, the text for Pit Pony: The Picture Book, and most recently Keeper of the Light, chosen as a Best Book of 2017 by the Canadian Children's Book Centre. Sable Island Fieldnotes: poems by Janet Barkhouse, photographs by Zoe Lucas launched in 2017; Salt Fires: poems by Janet Barkhouse is forthcoming (Pottersfield Press, Fall, 2018). Her literary fiction has been broadcast by CBC radio and published by Room. TNQ, Riddle Fence, CV2, LRC, Dalhousie Review, Nashwaak Review are among the journals that have published her poems.  2013-14, Barkhouse was an artist in residence (writing) at Dalhousie University Medical School, through their Humanities-HEALS program.
