Workshop Description:

My first book “Baba’s Babushka – A Magical Ukrainian Christmas” celebrates one of the most important Ukrainian traditions – Sviat Vechir. It is a historical fiction children’s book based on the immigration of my grandparents to Canada from Ukraine in 1912, a story that is similar to most Ukrainian Canadian families. Natalia, the girl in the story goes back to Ukraine to meet her baba who teaches her all the beautiful Ukrainian traditions for Christmas /Easter and Wedding. Ukrainians Canadians have been founding members of Canada for over 125 years. We are proud of our Ukrainian heritage, culture and traditions, and feel that it is important to celebrate, and educate about these traditions. My presentations talk about the importance of culture, knowing your roots and sharing your culture to promote peace.I can focus on any of my 11 books and present about the gift of writing and celebrating your heritage to any group or size as I was a former teacher for 30 years.
