Biography

Saleh Jaibat is a poet, researcher, and author who was born in Haifa, Palestine in 1945.  He holds both Jordanian and Canadian nationalities, has travelled to over 50 different countries, and speaks Arabic, English, and Czech.  Saleh has a Bachelor Degree in Business Management from the University of Beirut.  In his earlier years, he worked in administration and general management, and was Managing Director of various companies between 1972 and 1988.  In 1988, he immigrated to Canada, where he started a Real Estate company in Vancouver.  Saleh started writing Arabic poetry as a hobby in 1984.  He self-published his first book of poems, A’tini Mahri Hajar in 2003.  In 2013, his second work, Mojam Jawaher Al-Ashaar Wa-Al-tahquiqat Al-Adabiyah, was published.  This book is the largest work of its kind in Arabic literature, and is both a collection of the best Arabic poetry of all time, as well as a comprehensive encyclopedia of poets and poems of the past 2000 years.
 He is currently working on a novel about varied experiences he has encountered throughout his life.  Saleh is a member of the Writers’ Union of Jordan as well as the Writers’ Union of Canada.  He currently resides in Vancouver, BC along with his three children.
