Caitlin Nicole Evans is an author and illustrator of children's picture books.
She grew up in Caledon, Ontario and currently divides her time between various Canadian towns and India's tropical coastline.
An avid traveller, Caitlin spent over a decade roaming the world until she finally decided it was time to sit down and write!
Her first book, Cosette Goes to the County was published in 2022, an adorable tale set in Prince Edward County.
Her latest book, Where Do Stories Come From? was released in 2023. A "guidebook" disguised as a storybook, this is the perfect addition to any classroom. Written for little aspiring artists, wannabe writers, and curious creatives.
Caitlin loves to visit schools, charities, and bookstore events for live-readings and workshops.
She is currently at work on her third picture book, a modern twist on the classic fairytale, The Princess and the Pea. She is also aiming to finish her novel, geared toward a slightly older crowd . . .
I am available for presentations in school assemblies, bookstores, and libraries.
Presentations include a live-reading of my latest work "Where Do Stories Come From?", followed by a Q/A. The book aims to inspire children to create their own stories, and develop a deeper interest in the written word.
Discussion revolves around how I fulfilled my own creative dreams, and the daily life of an author/illustrator. Samples of my original artwork showcase the step-by-step process of building a book. All my books are hand-painted, and I discuss both illustration and writing techniques.
I have created a "wee-writer's" workbook based on the lessons and characters from the book Where Do Stories Come From?
This workbook includes writing prompts and exercises, as well as creative advice.
Workshops will begin with a live-reading of Where Do Stories Come From?, followed by writing exercises from the workbook.
Kids will create their own stories, which can be shared and reviewed. (An additional art activity is optional).
Students can pre-order their own workbook to take home and continue to craft stories and build their own creative practice.
School visits can include up to 6 individual classroom presentations per day (Half-day or Full-day optional).
These classroom presentations include a live-reading of my books, followed by Q + A.
Discussion will be suited to each grade level. Topics may include my life as an author/illustrator, writing advice for kids beginning to craft stories, and samples of my original artwork to showcase my creative process.
