Faith Richardson (Fay S Lapka)
BIO
Biography

Faith Richardson can’t remember a time when she was not fascinated by stories. A confirmed
‘bookaholic,’ early favorites were the Enid Blyten ‘Adventure’ series, the Nesbit stories, and later
the novels of Rosemary Sutcliff, Ursula Le Guin, Madeleine L’Engle and L. M. Montgomery. Today,
her bedside reading has returned again and again to the rich stories woven by CS Lewis, Charles
Williams, Tolkien, and George Macdonald.

As a young author, she was privileged to be mentored by the poet Luci Shaw, writer Madeleine
L'Engle (author of Newbery Award winner, A Wrinkle in Time) and to assist Madeleine L’Engle in
writer's workshops in Vancouver, Canada, and Oxford, England.

Along with books, animals have always filled her life: horses and ponies, a donkey, goats, dogs, cats,
birds, fish, and guinea pigs. Along with Fable the Dalmatian and Parry the tabby cat, horses, goats
and chickens today make their home where she and her husband live at Fox Song Farm and become
happily entwined in Faith’s stories.

Faith's doctorate is in nursing practice (DNP) and she has practiced and taught nursing for much of
her working life. Faith’s approach to nursing, teaching, and writing grows out of a tradition of healing arts that recognizes the nature connection and the power of story.
Faith has published most recently in the medical field (Elsevier) and previously had YA novels published by Harold Shaw Publishers and Hodder & Stoughton (under her maiden name Fay S. Lapka).

She also self-published YA novels under her own imprint Fox Song Books.
