Biography

Toronto children's author, Kathleen Gauer, has published HIGH IN THE SKY (2015), FOR NO REASON (2017), THE WISH CARVERS (2019), BATHTIME FUN! (2021), as well as poetry and magazine and newspaper articles.  Kathleen worked as a contributing associate editor for a Toronto community focus magazine for 15 years and as an arts columnist for the Etobicoke Guardian newspaper.  She recently retired as a Special Education Teacher's Assistant after working with the Toronto District School Board for 29 years.  When not writing or reading, Kathleen enjoys spending time with her family and friends, yoga, hiking, golf, knitting, watercolour painting, world travel, and choral singing.  She also volunteers with IBBY Canada's Reading with Newcomer Children program in Toronto and also does author visits and storytime programs in libraries and schools.

Toronto Children's Author Kathleen Gauer will read from her picture books (HIGH IN THE SKY, FOR NO REASON, THE WISH CARVERS, and BATHTIME FUN!).  After reading each story and engaging the students interactively, Kathleen will talk to the children about how she came up with the ideas, how she wrote the books and also how much fun it is to be an author with books in libraries around the world.  She will also answer questions at the end of the program.  Kathleen's books focus on using your creativity and imagination and positive solutions to dealing with a classroom bully.
