Susan McCaslin’s recently released volume of poetry, Consider (Aeolus House, 2023), explores the figure of Jesus, not as “God Almighty,” the only person in history to raise his dead body from the dead, or the Christ of narrow or rigid belief systems, but as a human wisdom teacher, healer, and activist. It consists of four sections: “Cosmic Egg”, “Consider”, “Cracking the Jesus Koans,” and “A Suite on Robin Blaser’s Libretto for The Last Supper.” In her endorsement for the book Anne Simpson (winner of the 2004 Griffin Poetry Prize) writes: “To read Consider is to part the curtains of the dreamworld that Susan McCaslin explores so deftly, so richly. Isis wraps her beloved in white feathers, Jesus shimmers on a wall in the early morning, and two goldfinches, found under a table, are breathed into flight. Her deeply thoughtful poetry reveals that we are all enigmas that can be puzzled open, each of us capable of transformation.”

The book can be purchased for $20.00 plus $6 shipping. To order please email: goldeneaglebooks@shaw.ca
