Clea Roberts

Clea Roberts lives in Whitehorse, Yukon on the Takhini River. Her second collection of poetry, Auguries, will be published in April 2017 with Brick Books. Her debut collection of poems, Here Is Where We Disembark, was nominated for the Gerald Lampert Award for best first book of poetry in Canada, the ReLit Award and the Alberta Readers Choice Award. A German language edition of Here Is Where We Disembark (Hier ist, wo wir von Bord gehen) was published by Edition Rugerup in 2013 and a Japanese language edition will be published by Shichosha in 2017. Her poems have appeared in journals and anthologies in Canada, England, Australia and USA. Roberts has received fellowships from the Vermont Studio Center, the Atlantic Center for the Arts, the Yukon Foundation and the Banff Centre and is a five-time recipient of the Yukon government Advanced Artist Award. Her work has been nominated for a National Magazine Award and her poem “When We Begin to Grow Old” won the After Al Purdy poetry contest. Clea founded and organized the Whitehorse Poetry Festival until 2009. She is currently the artistic director of the Kicksled Reading Series and facilitates workshops on poetry and grief for Hospice Yukon.
